This may have been due to personal circumstances or safety measures taken by their employing Trusts. The School is also conscious that trainees may have feelings of uncertainty or anxiety as they prepare to transition from the programme into employment as newly qualified Clinical Scientists.
We know that employers recognise that newly registered clinical scientists are at the threshold of their practice and will be providing appropriate support through induction and supervision framework until you find your feet.
The School would also like to offer you support during this transition in the following ways:
- A webinar with Q&A session: hosted by the Head of the School and the STP Training Programme Directors – this will be hosted in the new year (2021). In advance of the date of this webinar, we will provide a mechanism for you to submit your questions to ensure that we can consider and provide you with advice and guidance in the most valuable way. This will, of course, create an opportunity to submit questions at the time of the event; any that cannot be answered straight away will be published on the NSHCS website.
- OneFile portfolio: Trainees are rightly proud of their achievements during this challenging programme. It maybe that you have not been able to complete everything in your portfolio but would wish to as you enter into practice. Your portfolio will be made accessible to you for 12 months after the completion process has been completed and provide a minimal service including adding assessors if you wish. This is entirely for your personal fulfilment and the School will not monitor or regulate any activity.
- A letter for your employer: written and signed by the Head of School affirming that you have been assessed in the best possible way, and completed the programme in a challenging year.
