What are the entry requirements for the ASP programme?

Last Updated: 4th November 2020

Anyone who wishes to apply to an ASP programme needs to have sponsorship from their employer.

Any employer providing Healthcare Science services can sponsor an employee to undertake an ASP programme.

The employer is responsible for supporting the trainee throughout the ASP process including funding the programme, the appointment of a suitably qualified training officer, agreement of a training plan with the trainee and monitoring progress against the training plan. The employer must arrange any external placements required and ensure that the trainee has adequate protected time and resource to complete the programme in a timely manner.

Employer sponsors are responsible for approving the trainee’s enrolment on the programme based on their existing qualifications and experience. We will not enforce or undertake independent checks of any qualifications, experience or pre-requisites suggested in ASP programme aim.

Employers may also wish to put a separate training agreement in place with the trainee and should be guided by their trust or institutions local training and development processes.

The trainee is responsible for developing a training plan with their training officer and completing the work required by the programme in a timely manner.
