What you can expect at your interview
You will be given a short briefing before commencing with your interview.
The interviews take place on a circuit of three ‘stations’. Each station will last 20 minutes and you will be asked a series of questions designed to explore your knowledge and skills and to measure your suitability. You will have a two minute rest between each station and will move around the circuit until all three stations have been completed. Please note that you will be assigned into a ‘stream’ and may be positioned to start at any of the three stations in your stream.
Areas covered in the stations
Scientific and Clinical Service - this station is designed to focus on the specific HSST curriculum.
Research and Innovation - this station is designed to assess scientific, policy or educational research. You will be required to deliver a 10 minute PowerPoint presentation, followed by a 10 minute question and answer session.
The presentation title will be included in the invite to interview email and you must submit your presentation via email to email@example.com. The deadline for submissions will also be provided in the invite to interview email. You must also bring a copy of your presentation to the interview on a memory stick, together with 3 hard copies; this is in the event of any failure in the IT facilities at the venue. PowerPoint versions 2003, 2007 and 2010 are supported. Please note that no changes to presentations can be accepted after the deadline date.
Leadership and Management (aligned to Good Scientific Practice) – this station will focus on (but is not limited to) patient centred care, safety, leadership, professionalism, innovation, teaching and learning, quality improvement and research methods.
