The Northern Training Consortium is holding an open day to provide information to prospective NHS Scientist Training Programme (STP) trainees in Medical Physics (all specialisms), Clinical Engineering (clinical measurement and development), Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ophthalmic & Vision Sciences, and Bioinfomatics (physical science).
We will outline the structure of the STP, placements in the difference specialist areas, the career afterwards and application tips. The event will run from 13.00pm (registration opens at 12.30pm) until 4.30pm.
Feedback in the past has highlighted how valuable it is to have direct access in an informal setting with current and past trainees. There will be several opportunities for this in the afternoon to find out what life is really like as a Clinical Scientist.
We are also hoping to run tours to the different departments after the main event between 4:30 and 5:30pm but these are not yet confirmed.
We’re hoping to recruit trainees to the following areas:
- 4 in Medical Physics (unspecified specialism)
- 2 in Clinical Engineers (Clinical Measurement and Development)
- 1 in Clinical Pharmaceutical Scientist
- 1 in Ophthalmic and Vision Scientist
- 1 in Clinical Bioinformatician (Physical Science)
