As part of our ‘Sharing Good Practice’ series we have talks by HSST alumni, sharing their experiences on and post programme. The details of the talks are as follows:
Life after HSST
Dr Michael Pridgeon is a Neurophysiology HSST graduate. Michael will provide an overview of his Consultant Clinical Scientist role, post HSST. He will focus on his clinical responsibilities and how these were developed over the HSST programme. Michael will also discuss how his Consultant job plan and job description were developed and what he has learned transitioning into his new role.
Becoming a Consultant Clinical Scientist – is it an art, or a science?
Dr Michael Perry is a Clinical Microbiology HSST graduate. Michael will aim to answer the question ‘How do you become a Consultant Clinical Scientist?’ Is it by publication? By equivalence? Or is it by successful completion of the Higher Specialist Scientist Training Programme? It can be argued that it is by all three, or none, of the above. This talk will explore the science, and art, of becoming a Consultant Clinical Scientist.
