As part of our ‘Sharing Good Practice’ series we have talks by trainees on the Higher Specialist Scientist Training (HSST) programme. These talks are HSST-focused. However, anyone with an interest in the topics is welcome to join us. The details of the talks are as follows:
Making connections and networking – developing professional relationships
Stephanie Hutchings is a Clinical Scientist in Virology and a Consultant Clinical Scientist trainee on the HSST programme. Starting the HSST can seem like a daunting process with so many different aspects to the programme. This programme is not possible without professional connections and a wide professional relationship network. Stephanie will attempt to provide examples of her own experiences as a Virology Consultant Clinical Scientist trainee with some top tips to maintaining and developing these professional relationships.
Making connections and networking – developing professional relationships
Stephen Kidd is a Clinical Scientist in Microbiology and a Consultant Clinical Scientist trainee on the HSST programme. Stephen will also be giving his perspective on the importance of making connections and how to grow and maintain a flourishing network for collaboration and development.
Managing the imposter monster
Amy Newman is a Deputy Operations Lead for Cancer Genetics and a Consultant Clinical Scientist trainee on the HSST programme. Amy’s talk will be on ‘the frightening and enlightening experiences of a Biomedical Scientist taking on the HSST MPAD programme. How I found perspective and inner peace’.
