Excellent training opportunities are offered within the Scientist Training Programme (STP) which is a national postgraduate training programme located in hospitals and health services throughout England. This is a three-year postgraduate programme and successful candidates will be employed by an NHS trust or other healthcare provider for the duration of their training. Trainees are also enrolled for a fully funded part-time vocational master’s degree in their chosen specialism.

andrology, cancer genomics, clinical biochemistry, clinical bioinformatics genomics, clinical immunology, clinical microbiology, embryology, genomic counselling, genomics, haematology and transfusion science, histocompatibility and immunogenetics, histopathology
Physical Sciences
clinical engineering, clinical informatics, clinical scientific computing, imaging with non-ionising radiation, medical physics, nuclear medicine, pharmaceutical science, radiation safety and diagnostic radiology, radiotherapy physics, reconstructive science
Physiological Sciences
audiology, cardiac science, critical care science, gastrointestinal physiology, neurophysiology, ophthalmic and vision science, respiratory and sleep science, vascular science
