The data includes all trainees actively in training within Life Sciences, Physiological Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering (up to and including the 2023 cohorts). The number of active trainees is only included at English regional level to prevent identification of individual trainees within departments where there few trainees. Where there are less than 5 trainees in any specialty across an English region then the number is given as <5. Consortia-led training has also been considered, with any consortia trainees being marked as in training at all sites within each consortium.
