To address some of the workforce issues in Cardiology, the National School of Healthcare Science, in conjunction with the British Society of Echocardiography and Manchester Metropolitan University, has developed a brand new training programme in Echocardiography, which has been funded by Health Education England.
This 18 month, fully-funded integrated programme, leads to a Post Graduate Certificate in Echocardiography and a BSE Level 2 Accreditation in Transthoracic Echocardiography. Applicants should have an honours degree (1st or 2.1) in Cardiac Physiology (PTP) or a relevant scientific subject, or have equivalent experience and appropriate underpinning knowledge and skills in cardiology. Positions are available on this innovative new programme in Birmingham and Manchester. Trainees will attend Manchester Metropolitan University for the PG Cert, which includes:
- a newly developed module on ‘Introduction to Clinical Echocardiography’
- together with a module in concert with the STP ‘Ultrasound Imaging in Cardiac Disease’ providing the underpinning knowledge required for BSE Accreditation.
