Preparing for the Clinical Immunology FRCPath Part 2 exam – 3 day course
Course aim: To provide targeted exam preparation for clinical scientists and SPRs approaching FRCPath Part 2 (Clin Immunology).
Course details
- Up to 8 candidates.
- 2 days with optional mock written and viva exam on day 3.
- Residential course in Sheffield.
- Wednesday 5 to Friday 7 February 2025.
- Open to Clinical Scientists and Medical trainees in recognition that each group can learn a lot from each other. We will aim for a balanced cohort where possible.
- Open to candidates taking their Part 2 exam in 2025.
- Focus on interactive, example-driven sessions covering a range of relevant topics for both the written paper and the viva, presented in a friendly and informal teaching environment.
- Topics will be focused around the written paper sections and will include EQA interpretation, IQC familiarisation and interpretation, incident reporting, validation and verification, flow cytometry workshop, Uncommon Auts, Pitfalls of Protein Chemistry.
- We recognise that skill sets are different between Clinical Scientists and Medical trainees and will offer sessions that cater to both specifically, such as case presentation and viva-style practice.
- Exam technique will also be addressed in every session.
- A very practical course, with lots of time for discussion about multiple relevant examples.

Assessors are responsible for making an independent judgment of a trainee’s performance in the STP Final Year Assessment. We’ll provide you with training and everything you need for the assessment itself. No other prep required. If you’ve been an assessor for previous STP assessments or you would like to be involved in the STP Final Year Assessment for the first time, let us know you’d like to be an assessor.

Update on HSST posts for 2025
We anticipate that those who have successfully requested posts for 2025 will receive confirmation of funding letters from NHS England regional commissioners during December/early January. HSST recruitment guidance will be available on the School website from January. Once available the recruitment team will email the key contacts for HSST posts to signpost to guidance and advise on steps to start recruitment.
