Imaging with non-Ionising Radiation – University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust
We are seeking an enthusiastic physicist to join the Medical Physics team at University Hospital Southampton (UHS) NHS Foundation Trust. UHS is one of the biggest employers in the region with over 10,000 staff and a strong healthcare science workforce and clinical-academic integration with the University of Southampton. The MR Physics group provides support to a large Radiology department within UHS, with 6 MRI scanners (4 x 1.5T and 2 x 3T, including one dedicated cardiac MRI scanner) at UHS, as well as several external clients. New and additional scanners will be coming on-line at UHS in the next 1-2 years, including intraoperative MRI. One 3T scanner at UHS provides capacity for dedicated research sessions, with high demand for R&D support in neuro, oncology, lung and liver/abdominal MRI. We also deliver specialist services covering MR quality assurance (QA), safety and clinical service development, and other exciting new opportunities are arising due to continued investment in clinical innovation and research in Southampton. This post is an excellent training opportunity for a motivated physicist to specialise in imaging with non-ionising radiation, especially if you have an interest in MR physics, in a large regional hospital. There may be a small amount of travel to other sites required (eg for some of the ultrasound training components) and significant amounts of time spent at KCL for the MSc.
