Audiology – University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust
With over 13,000 members of staff based across five hospitals University Hospitals of Derby and Burton provides care to over 1 million inhabitants across South Derbyshire and East Staffordshire. We provide a wide range of services, including newborn hearing screening and diagnostics, paediatric, vestibular, tinnitus, and complex rehabilitation. Adult Audiology is housed in a purpose-built Head and Neck Unit, and Paediatric Audiology is situated within the Derbyshire Children’s Hospital. Within the organisation we have excellent working relationships with our 12 ENT Consultants, Audiovestibular Physician and Paediatrician with specialist interest in hearing aetiology. We have close links with other local services such as Education, Speech and Language Therapy, Social Services, and the Royal School for The Deaf Derby. At UHDB we have an emerging healthcare science reputation supported by our Director for AHP/HCS, Lead Healthcare Scientist, and Lead for AHP/HCS Research. We have an established Practice Learning and Support Unit who facilitate training and education across multiple professions within the organisation. We have well established links with Aston University, University of Manchester, and De Montfort University for Audiology PTP trainees. We are accredited for STP training, and currently have an STP trainee in post. We offer a flexible working pattern (e.g., full time over 4 or 5 days). Pharmaceutical Science – University Hospital of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust
The primary base hospital and completion of 2 of the 4 specialisms is located at Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit, Queen’s Hospital, Belvedere Road, Burton-on-Trent, DE13 0RB. The other 2 rotations are hosted at hospitals in the within the Midlands region. Travel will be required in the Midlands for rotations and to Manchester as part of the associated Masters course.
