University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust

The post is based at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, a busy teaching hospital which offers great training opportunities. The clinical training attachments are available largely on site at the Leicester Royal Infirmary but also there are smaller laboratory services at the Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital where you will also visit. The large Haematology department hosts clinical scientist trainees as well as medical trainees and there is a strong laboratory training ethos. There are close working relationships across departments. Within Pathology there are a number of STPs in training at any one time. We have a consultant Clinical Scientist in post who undertook the STP training programme and so is experienced and knowledgeable about the training requirements and support needed.
