Audiology – York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
We are currently seeking a STP trainee to join our team in the Audiology Department at York Hospital. The post-holder will undergo supervised training in all areas of Adult and Paediatric Audiology including diagnostic and rehabilitation work leading to the registration as a clinical scientist (Audiology). The 1st year will include completion of an MSc in Audiology with a further 2 Years being at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 3 year fixed term (supernumerary) contract. The trainee will work closely with the training coordinator/officer and more senior members of staff to follow the curriculum for the Scientist Training Programme. The trainee will work in specified areas of the department and be responsible to the Designated Training Coordinator/Officer for their own work and progression through the scheme. All trainees will be expected to travel to national academic and other courses regularly throughout their training – in some cases this may involve overnight and/or residential stays. Trainees will undertake a master’s degree course at a designated academic institution specific for the training pathway

Cardiac Science – York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Clinical Microbiology – York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
The STP trainee will be primarily based at Hull Microbiology Laboratory, although there will be a requirement periodically for them to train and work at SHYPS Castle Hill and York Sites.
Haematology and Transfusion Science – York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Although the trainee will be employed by York Teaching Hospital, they will be primarily based at the Hull Royal Infirmary Laboratory in Hull as part of the Scarborough, Hull and York Pathology Service network. There will be occasional requirements to visit the Castle Hill Hospital laboratory and haematology clinical settings. There will also be a requirement to travel to Leeds for some aspects of the training at the Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service and NHS Blood Transfusion Service in Barnsley.
