Andrology – Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust
Birmingham Women’s Hospital is a leading centre for Diagnostic Andrology in the United Kingdom and is internationally recognised. With three editors of the World Health Organisation manual for the examination and processing of human semen having led the Department, we pride ourselves on providing a high-quality Andrology service for our patients.
The diagnostic laboratory is accredited by UKAS for performing diagnostic semen analyses to assess fertility and post-vasectomy status.
The clinical treatment laboratory routinely performs sperm preparation and sperm freezing procedures for fertility preservation and assisted conception. The Birmingham Sperm bank recruits sperm donors, stores and uses their samples.
All these Andrology services are delivered alongside specialist male clinics and a comprehensive Fertility and Pre-implantation genetics service within the Birmingham Women’s Fertility Centre.
