Mount Vernon is located on the outskirt of London with easy access to the Metropolitan line for travel into central London as well as to greenbelt land and the Chilterns. We are a large regional cancer and the majority of training will take place at the cancer centre with some visits to neighbouring trusts. The ability to drive and access to a car is an advantage but is not required. As well as STP we also train scientists via “Route 2”, and consultant scientists on the HSST training program. We endeavour to provide a supportive learning environment and look forward to welcoming our next STP trainees to join us.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest acute NHS Trusts and training centres in the UK, a tertiary centre for a number of medical specialties and a major Trauma centre for the East Midlands. We have access to an extensive range modern equipment both on site, including 6 MRI, 9CT, 4 Gamma cameras, over 100 diagnostic ultrasound scanners, a brand new PET scanner and 7 Linacs, plus more in other centres mainly around the East Midlands. We work closely with clinical colleagues in Radiology, Cardiology and Oncology departments who undertake a broad range of advanced clinical and research activities.

Our teams are at the fore front of a large number of development and research activities and have excellent links with the University of Nottingham. All training is based within our two main sites, the QMC and City Hospital campuses which are linked by a frequent shuttle bus service free to staff. The INIR specialism, in phase 2 and 3 of the training, is based at the QMC campus.

You will be employed by the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and primarily based at the New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton for your training. You will be supporting a range of sites within the region. New Cross Hospital benefits from strong transport links. The Wolverhampton train station is just over a mile from the hospital and there are regular buses running to the hospital site. Staff also have access to parking on-site which is currently free for staff!

There will be occasional travel off-site to Cannock Chase, Dudley Group, and Walsall Manor Hospitals throughout your training. A car and ability to drive is useful but not essential – car-sharing options can be arranged. A free shuttle bus runs between New Cross and Cannock Chase sites. You may also need to travel to other sites throughout your training, all sites are within the Midlands and accessible via bus or train.
