We are offering an exciting training opportunity for an ambitious and dedicated person looking to start their Healthcare Science Career in a busy District General hospital, on the edge of the idyllic Yorkshire Dales. The post will be based within the unlicensed Aseptic unit at Airedale General Hospital, but also include Production/QC rotations to the manufacturing unit at Huddersfield Pharmacy specials and QA/Radiopharmacy rotations to Bradford Royal Infirmary. These sites are within commutable distances and trainees will be expected to travel between sites independently.

Pharmaceutical Science – Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
The trainee will support the delivery of a diverse range of services in the following facilities:
- Unlicensed units for aseptic preparation and quality assurance (QA) of injectable medicines such as chemotherapy
- MHRA licensed units for: the preparation and QA of aseptic (including radiopharmaceutical), sterile, and non-sterile medicinal products; quality control (QC) testing; and re-packaging / over-labelling.
- Facilities delivering MGPS-QC services.
The post will be based at the following locations:
- Bradford Royal Infirmary- QA/QC and Radiopharmacy
- St Luke’s Hospital- Aseptics
- Huddersfield Pharmacy Specials- Production
Applicants will be expected to travel between sites, there are good transport links to each of these and they are a commutable distance from Bradford. It is possible that some time will be spent at Airedale General Hospital and other external sites to gain the necessary training.

Pharmaceutical Science – Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
The trainee will be primarily based at the Countess of Chester Hospital where we have a newly refurbished aseptic unit. You will undertake some elements of specialist rotations at other hospitals in the region such as Radiopharmacy and Quality Control. There will be a requirement to travel to locations including Liverpool and Manchester for these placements.

Pharmaceutical Science – Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
Trainees will work at the following locations within Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust; Leeds General Infirmary, St. James’s University Hospital and the pharmacy manufacturing unit and QA/QC department in Hunslet, Leeds. There are good transport links to all locations. Trainees are responsible for organising their own travel arrangements across the different locations.

Pharmaceutical Science – Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust
Trainees will primarily be based at the Oxford Road Centre of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. One trainee will be hosted in Pharmacy Aseptics and the other in the Radiopharmacy Department. Trainees would be expected to travel to other sites in the North West and the UK for some rotations or to gain further experience in a specialty. The hours of work may be variable depending on the normal operating hours of each department.

Pharmaceutical Science – Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust
We have an unlicensed aseptic unit (Section 10 exempt) where chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, TPN and CIVAS are made. There is also a Quality Assurance team to support aseptics services, procurement and all other pharmacy activities.
The trainee will mainly be based at Pinderfields Hospital with some cross-site work expected between the other two hospital sites (Dewsbury and District Hospital and Pontefract Hospital). There are excellent public transport links and there is a staff shuttle bus service between the three hospital sites.

Pharmaceutical Science – Northern Training Consortium
The NTC is a well-established training consortium of 8 Trusts in the North East and North Cumbria, working together to deliver high quality training in the Physical Sciences. We currently have 29 STP trainees in the region, an experienced workplace training team including a dedicated training co-ordinator, and a trainee network providing peer support. The NTC has a strong record of keeping STP trainees in the region once qualified.
These Pharmaceutical Science posts will be mainly based in Newcastle upon Tyne, but the appointees will be expected to travel within the NTC region for some training activities.

The trainee will work closely with the training coordinator/officer and more senior members of staff to follow the curriculum. Pharmaceutical Science – University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust
This post is based largely in Southampton across sites at the General Hospital and our new aseptic unit at Adanac Park on the outskirts of Southampton just off the M271. There will be placements in Radiopharmacy, Oncology production unit and Torbay Pharma, there will likely be visits to other sites in the Hampshire area. There are bus links between the General hospital and Adanac park. There will be an expectation of early starts for the Radiopharmacy rotation based on the General site.
