We invite enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join the Clinical Biochemistry team, at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The Trust has four hospital sites but the Laboratory is at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage where you will be based. Our laboratory is currently being re-equipped with state-of-the-art analysers for core chemistries and immunoassay, and HPLC. We also have a well-established Point of Care Testing service providing support across the Trust. You will benefit from membership of the East of England regional study group which meets monthly via MS Teams, providing support from other trainees and clinical scientists. As part of a wider pathology network across Hertfordshire and West Essex (HWE) there is opportunity for you to gain further experience with colleagues at our partner NHS Trusts. You will also need to work elsewhere for short periods as required for more specialist experience.

Mount Vernon is located on the outskirt of London with easy access to the Metropolitan line for travel into central London as well as to greenbelt land and the Chilterns. We are a large regional cancer and the majority of training will take place at the cancer centre with some visits to neighbouring trusts. The ability to drive and access to a car is an advantage but is not required. As well as STP we also train scientists via “Route 2”, and consultant scientists on the HSST training program. We endeavour to provide a supportive learning environment and look forward to welcoming our next STP trainees to join us.
