The cardiology departments at East Kent Hospitals has years of experience training at STP and HSST levels. There will be an expectation to travel between out three main sites (Ashford, Canterbury and Margate) our vascular rotation is at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. We are a busy cardiac department and regional Primary PCI centre, we offer EP and complex echo locally (such as stress echo and physiologist led Valve clinic)

Clinical Engineering – East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust

This post is hosted by the department of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering, and will be based in Canterbury, and required to travel to other sites within the Trust (Ashford, Margate, Dover and Folkestone).

Clinical Engineering includes Medical Devices Governance Team, which is responsible for oversight and governance of medical devices within the Trust, adult Kent and Medway Communication and Assistive Technology (KM CAT) Service, which is one of 15 nationally recognised services (see NHSE Specialist AAC Service specification) that supports people with complex disabilities to communicate through the use of specialist technology. We can offer local placements in Audiology, Cardiology, Radiology Physics, IT, Analytics, Medical Engineering, and Renal Technology, and support you to arrange placements in other organisations nationally (requires travel), to gain a broader experience and deeper understanding of Clinical Engineering.

Clinical Immunology – East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust

The East Kent Hospitals (EKHUFT) Immunology laboratory at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, serves a population of 1.9 million. It is part of the K&M Pathology Network (KMPN). A new clinical immunology and allergy service has been set-up and patients are now being cared for locally.

The STP trainee will join a team of 8 biomedical scientists, a senior clinical scientist, and associated support staff, led by a medical Consultant in Immunology and Allergy and a part-time Consultant Clinical Scientist. They will have opportunities to rotate to other EKHUFT and KMPN laboratories. Agreements are in place with other UK centres to ensure a diversity of experience of clinical and laboratory environments.
East Kent has a beautiful coastline, countryside and villages. Cultural highlights include the cathedral city of Canterbury, the diverse arts scene in Margate and Folkestone, and excellent transport links to London.
