The Nuclear Medicine Department of Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging and non-imaging investigations and therapy procedures at Castle Hill Hospital (CHH) and Hull Royal Infirmary (HRI). The department is equipped with three gamma cameras (1 GE StarGuide, 1 GE 870DR and 1 GE Infinia Hawkeye) and a gamma sample counter.

Our service also provides scientific support to the PET/CT facility on the Castle Hill site, where there is currently one PET/CT system with installation of a second scanner planned in the near future.

In collaboration with the University of Hull and the local Daisy charity, a Molecular Imaging Research Centre is due to open on the CHH site imminently which includes a radiopharmacy and a cyclotron facility.

You will be based at CHH within the Nuclear Medicine department where you will be able to access the on-site facilities as part of your training.

The Queen’s Centre provides outstanding rotations in Radiotherapy, Nuclear medicine, Radiation Safety and Diagnostic Radiology. We are a well-equipped centre with six linear accelerators (4x Truebeam and 2x Halcyon) with state-of-the-art surface-guided radiotherapy technology, Flexitron Brachytherapy, Xstrahl Superficial, Papillion Contact Radiotherapy and two Siemens CT scanners. We are a modern and forward-thinking department with a history of training in the STP programme. Being a medium-sized centre, we can provide training in all areas of radiotherapy. The advantage of joining a centre of our size is that we are sufficiently resourced to provide a balanced mix of direct clinical work and development. Throughout your training, you will receive support to become an integral part of the clinical team and actively contribute to the service. Aside from the outstanding work environment and excellent staff retention, Hull offers a plethora of delights, from social and geological to cultural. We are also nestled between the enchanting Yorkshire Wolds on one side and the magnetic east coast on the other.
