The trainee will primarily be based at Preston Business Centre and Royal Preston Hospital, the two site are a 15 minute walk or a free shuttle bus apart. The post will officially be part of OneLSC, a collaboration of four trusts in the North-West but there are no current plans for the trainee to work at any Trust other than Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

Clinical Microbiology – Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
The trainee will be based at Royal Preston Hospital. There may be an opportunity to attend ward rounds and clinics at Chorley hospital, and a shuttle bus is provided. We are building a collaboration with other trusts in our pathology network (Blackburn, Blackpool and Morecombe Bay). There may be opportunities to visit some of these sites to gain additional experience.

Pharmaceutical Science – Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Based at the pharmacy department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Royal Preston site, your role is focused between the licensed manufacturing unit, Aseptic Unit, Radio Pharmacy and Quality Assurance departments. There is also access to stores and distribution with wholesale dealer’s license, clinical trials, medicines management teams and clinical pharmacy.

Radiotherapy Physics – Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Rosemere Cancer Centre is on the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Royal Preston Hospital site and provides an external beam radiotherapy service for the adult population of Lancashire and South Cumbria. You will be based within the radiotherapy physics department at Preston but, during your first year of the programme, will travel to Manchester to complete all the required rotation aspects of your STP training. During your training you will also travel to the University of Liverpool to complete an MSc in Medical Physics.
Your STP training will be fully supported with a dedicated training supervisor, training plan and laptop supplied. There are also several other STP trainees within the department. The training will cover all the required elements of the STP programme and provide opportunities to get involved with all aspects of routine work as well department development projects.

Reconstructive Science – Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
This is a position offered by Lancashire/South Yorkshire Consortium associating four NHS Trusts (Royal Preston, Burnley General Teaching Hospital, North Manchester General Hospital, The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust).
You will be based in the Maxillofacial Laboratory at Royal Preston Hospital, part of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The time you spend in each unit will be equally distributed on annual bases, normally on 3/12 ratio meaning you will spend three months on annual basses in each unit.
