Nottingham Audiology has a long history of successfully training Clinical Scientists. Ongoing support from the Training Lead and their team is available throughout the three years and for the research elements of the MSc. We are a large team of Audiologists and have specialised clinics for; complex audiological cases, bone conduction hearing implants, tinnitus, dementia, paediatrics, evoked potentials, vestibular diagnostics and vestibular rehabilitation. We also share a site with the Nottingham Audiology Implant Programme.

Clinic work will be primary based at Ropewalk House and Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham which are both in close proximity to Nottingham city centre.

Clinical Biochemistry – Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust

The training post will require the trainee to work at both Nottingham Hospital sites (City and Queen’s Medical Centre) but there is a frequent free shuttle bus between sites. The department is able to provide training for all specialities, with the exception of the Toxicology rotation, for which a training placement is organised at Leicester University Hospitals NHS Trust (transport costs are covered by the department). Access to IT facilities and the University of Nottingham library is provided and trainees can attend all departmental and Trust lecture/tutorial series.

Imaging with Non-Ionising Radiation – Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest acute NHS Trusts and training centres in the UK, a tertiary centre for a number of medical specialties and a major Trauma centre for the East Midlands. We have access to an extensive range modern equipment both on site, including 6 MRI, 9CT, 4 Gamma cameras, over 100 diagnostic ultrasound scanners, a brand new PET scanner and 7 Linacs, plus more in other centres mainly around the East Midlands. We work closely with clinical colleagues in Radiology, Cardiology and Oncology departments who undertake a broad range of advanced clinical and research activities.

Our teams are at the fore front of a large number of development and research activities and have excellent links with the University of Nottingham. All training is based within our two main sites, the QMC and City Hospital campuses which are linked by a frequent shuttle bus service free to staff. The INIR specialism, in phase 2 and 3 of the training, is based at the QMC campus.

Neurophysiology – Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust

Clinical Neurophysiology is based at the Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) Campus, approximately two miles from Nottingham City Centre. The majority of training will be delivered at this site but some travel to City Campus will be required. There is currently a free bus service that runs between sites. QMC is home to the University of Nottingham Medical School, with access to the medical school library. The main university campus is close by, with access to other libraries. Hospital library facilities are available on both campuses.

Nuclear Medicine – Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust
