  • 3 posts
  • North West

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist cancer care to a wide area including Cheshire and Merseyside. STP training is split between the flagship centre in Liverpool, and a second site on the Wirral. The Trust also has a satellite centre near Aintree which also provides radiotherapy services.

The physics department has over forty registered clinical scientists, and over ten trainee clinical scientists completing the STP. The trust has ten linear accelerators, a low energy proton cyclotron, a HDR brachytherapy unit and several orthovoltage units.

A designated Training Officer supports each Trainee Healthcare Scientist in their progression through the training programme, ensuring trainees complete the learning outcomes of the programme and gain the clinical experience required to become a registered Clinical Scientist. Each trainee is also assigned an individual mentor who provides informal advice and support to the trainee throughout the programme.
