You will be based in the Centre for Reproductive Medicine on the 1st and 2nd Floor of The Kenton & Lucas Wing at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital.

We provide all the required rotations for Embryology here, but you will undertake the Genetics and Genomics Counselling rotations at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London during the summer of your first year.

We currently have two STP trainees and three Clinical Embryologists who completed their STP training here with us, who will be able to support you.

The trainee will be based at James Cook University Hospital within a small patient focused IVF clinic, carrying out up 200 fresh cycles a year. We carry out all standard aspects of IVF treatment including ICSI, premature infertility cryopresevration for males and females, PESAs and Testicular biopsies. We are currently a team of 5 embryologists and 2 laboratory assistants. Onsite academic resources include STRIVE education and research centre including a library. There are current active STP students in other disciplines within the hospital. The hospital grounds encompasses staff car parking, Playdays Day Nursery, several cafes, shops and a main canteen. Transport links nearby include bus station and train station, there is also a partnership link with a nearby gym and track facility. There is a possibility of a laboratory relocation within 20 miles of the James Cook site, and potential cross site working within the 3 year STP term.

The Trainee will predominantly be based at our Brighton clinic but there will be some time spent at our Eastbourne clinic. Travel between sites is easiest by car but there is also a local train service.

Embryology – University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust

The trainee will be based in the Centre for Reproductive Medicine at University Hospital Coventry where all embryology training and the first year introductions to Andrology and Embryology rotations will take place. The other first year rotations; Introduction to Genetics, Genomics and Molecular Science and Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Genetic and Genomic Counselling will be at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered for travel to and from Birmingham.
