Genomic Counselling – Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
Trainees will be based at the main Clinical Genetics Department at Heavitree Hospital, Exeter. The Peninsula Genetics Service provides care across Devon, Somerset and Cornwall, with established satellite clinics in all three counties. While Exeter will be the primary base, trainees are expected to travel to satellite sites to gain a broad and comprehensive training experience; this will require flexibility and the ability to travel within the region.
From April 2026, a formal merger process to include the Bristol genetics service will be in place. However, the geographical base and service delivery across the Peninsula is expected to remain unchanged. Training modules and rotations are delivered through a combination of on-site clinical activity, collaboration with local genomics laboratories, and virtual learning opportunities, including video consultations with patients, ensuring exposure to a wide range of clinical and service models.
Local promotion details for post(s): Site visits to meet with the training officer or an opportunity to speak with current STPs is available. We have no plans for an open day.
