Mount Vernon Hospital is located in North West London and is within easy access of central London and the Chiltern Hills. There are currently 15 STP trainees in the medical physics team and the trainee will join this group. Close links are maintained with the London consortiums for additional training support. The trainee will mainly be based in the radiotherapy physics team and it is anticipated that projects will be clinically focussed. There will be the option of undertaking projects in other groups within the medical physics team at Mount Vernon. The department has an active scripting group and a number of students have recently undertaken projects that have utilised AI to solve clinical problems. The trainee will need to travel to other departments, particularly during the rotations. This could be to the Lister hospital (Stevenage) or to hospitals in central London. You will be based in the radiotherapy department at Mount Vernon Hospital, Northwood which is on the outskirts of London. The radiotherapy department has 4 TrueBeams, 2 Halcyons and an Ethos for external beam treatment as well as a large brachytherapy service. We have 2 CT scanners for pre-treatment imaging and access to MRI in the Paul Strickland Scanner centre.

Rotational placements will also be based at Mount Vernon Hospital but may require some travel particularly for aspects of non-ionising radiation and diagnostic radiology. Trainees have access to a trainee room with computers for use when writing up competencies or undertaking literature reviews. We look forward to welcoming you to Mount Vernon.
