The Microbiology department is based on the Maidstone Hospital site. It houses a purpose built laboratory opened in 2007 with 2 CL3 suites. We have 3 medical microbiology consultants who will be responsible for delivering your training along with experienced Biomedical Scientists. Our overall laboratory staffing comprises 46 WTE. You will be expected to rotate to The Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. There is an inter site bus, with park and ride options for those who drive both FOC. Secondments to other sites within the emerging Kent and Medway Pathology Network will be an integral part of this training opportunity with some placements at tertiary sites in London. Based at Maidstone Hospital, you may be asked to work at our other locations (Tunbridge Wells and Canterbury) for limited periods, and to undertake training opportunities within other healthcare organisations across London and the Southeast. Our hospitals have good public transport links.
We offer Medical Physics undefined because we believe the selection of specialism is important to you as well as us.
We endeavour to accommodate individual training preferences where possible, but you may be required to accept an alternative specialism if your choice is unavailable because of local training capacity and workforce need for example. Specialisms may therefore be subject to an internal selection process.
