Cardiac Science – Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (Fairfield General Hospital)
The trainee will be mainly based at Fairfield General Hospital but will also be expected to cross-site work at Royal Oldham Hospital, Rochdale Infirmary and Glodwick Primary Care Centre. A shuttle bus service is available across sites during the week.
Trainee will be allowed to choose which specialism they specialise in. Rotations will mainly be based across the Northern Care Alliance. If trainee chooses CRM then their EP training will have to be performed at another trust which we will organise.
Services we offer: 12-lead ECG, Holter monitoring/analysis, ETT, tilt testing, transthoracic echo, stress echo, transoesophageal echo, RHC, coronary angiogram, PCI, ILR implant, brady pacemaker/CRT/ICD/CSP implant and follow up of these devices.

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) provides hospital and integrated health and social care services to over one million people living across Greater Manchester. Our 20,000 colleagues care for people in hospital and in the community, working across Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Salford, to save and improve lives.
We can offer the STP in Cardiac Science training in echocardiography and cardiac resynchronisation management. Some of the placements will be supported by other hospitals in the Greater Manchester area. Although based at Salford the trainee will need to be able to travel to other hospitals in the Northern Care Alliance, Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan and Manchester Foundation Trust Hospitals. There are good transport links to all of these sites from Manchester.

Clinical Biochemistry – Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust
This STP training position is based at the Royal Oldham Hospital, part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA). The laboratory comprises a core hub site for inpatient and primary care work based at Oldham, and an essential services laboratory at Fairfield General Hospital. Placements in other disciplines and biochemistry specialisms take place across other sites of the NCA (eg Salford), and sites in Greater Manchester.

Clinical Scientific Computing – Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust
This STP post is based in the Clinical Engineering group within the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. The group provides a wide range of R&D services to meet unmet clinical needs for the Trust, including surgical planning and custom medical and research device design and manufacture. Clinical scientific computing services provided include development and management of SaMD and AIMD systems (e.g. dose calculators, clinical scoring systems), and medical image processing to support surgical planning, additive manufacture and VR/AR.
The trainee will have the opportunity to work with a team of clinical scientists supporting a diverse range of clinical fields including neurology and neurosurgery, orthopaedics and trauma, anaesthesia, intensive care, ENT, dermatology and rheumatology.
The post will primarily be based at Salford Royal hospital, with rotations covering medical physics and medical devices connectivity at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for a passionate STP Trainee in Pharmaceutical Science to join our Aseptic Services Unit at Salford Royal Hospital (SRH). You’ll be part of a dynamic team delivering high-quality pharmaceutical services to patients.
The Aseptic Unit at SRH is part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) and prepares aseptic products under both, Section 10 of the Medicines Act 1968 and a Manufacturer’s specials license from the MHRA.

Respiratory and Sleep Science – Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust
These posts within the Northern Care Alliance will be based primarily at either at Salford Royal or Fairfield (Bury) Hospitals and will require potential cross-working at either site, with placements also at the Royal Oldham site to give a breadth of experience. The first year intensive care placement will be at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Staff from Salford are currently involved in the sleep specialist teaching through Manchester Metropolitan University and we have comprehensive respiratory and neurology sleep services including full PSG. Therefore, we are able to provide learning experience for the whole STP curriculum.
