Cardiac Science – University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust

  • 1 post
  • South West

STP Cardiac Science trainees will be primarily based at Royal Bournemouth Hospital, with additional rotational experience at Poole Hospital to support a broad training exposure. Travel between sites is occasionally required; both hospitals are well connected by public transport, and inter-site travel is available. The department offers comprehensive Echocardiography and Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) training, supported by experienced Cardiac Physiologists and access to modern diagnostic and interventional cardiology facilities.

Trainees will work within a friendly multi-disciplinary team and have access to dedicated training spaces, simulation equipment, and supervised clinical learning opportunities. University Hospitals Dorset provides a supportive environment for developing practical competencies, gaining wide clinical exposure, and progressing towards independent clinical practice.

We are excited to host a trainee in our Clinical Biochemistry Department at University Hospitals Dorset. You will be joining a One Dorset Pathology (ODP) Clinical Biochemistry team comprising of one medical consultant, two consultant clinical scientists and two principal clinical scientists. Our expanding service means you’ll gain lots of experience in service development, clinical audits, quality management, attendance at ward rounds and multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings.

We work across two sites with a free staff shuttle bus between Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals. We have fabulous coastlines including the Jurassic Coast, as well as beautiful countryside and nature reserves. Plenty of great places for a good work-life balance here (being at the beach <20 minutes after finishing work is amazing in the summer). You can even be in central London within 2 hours on the train.
