Elizabeth Eggleton, a 1st year Cardiac Science trainee at Cambridge University Hospital, began working on the COVID critical care wards in May 2020. In line with some of the competencies for the Clinical Assessment and Investigation module, she began to think about a diagnostic pathway for patients presenting with COVID-19 symptoms at the Accident and Emergency department. Elizabeth created a diagnostic flowchart to map the pathway and different routes that patients may take, and used published literature to support this.

She then submitted this to one of the BMJ’s journals, the Postgraduate Medical Journal and it was accepted for publication. Read Elizabeth’s article ‘Simple, fast and affordable triaging pathway for COVID-19’ here.

Many congratulations to Elizabeth and let’s hope its the first of many articles that she gets published.
