Consultant Clinical Scientist – Microbiology vacancy opportunity for HSST trainees
Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust is seeking 2 full time Consultant Clinical Scientists to work in their Microbiology Department.

The department provides a bacteriology, serology and mycology service to the Trust and, from time to time, to the local CCGs (Wakefield and North Kirklees, who commission on behalf of with 400 GPs) as well as infection control support to the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (mental health). The department works closely with infection control and pharmacy especially the Anti-Microbial Pharmacist.
The Microbiology laboratory is fully accredited to UKAS ISO 15189 (achieved 2018) and undertakes internal audits and quality assurance, and participates in all relevant NEQAS schemes. They have a ‘state of art’, well-equipped purpose built laboratory and is accredited for BMS training.
The department is part of the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts and they are working together along with NHSI to look at efficiencies. As part of these, they are part of a clinical Microbiology group looking at aligning policies and procedures across the West Yorkshire and Harrogate STP. As part of this partnership, the successful candidates will receive training and mentorship from Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust Clinical Microbiology Team.
The role is an ideal opportunity for personal development and building a team to provide a first rate Microbiology Service. They have very experienced and highly qualified Biomedical Scientist and actively encourage training and development. They have a dedicated and highly efficiency team of support staff.
