Katharine Kenny wins Rising Star of the Year

Katharine Kenny, trainee scientist at Oxford University Hospitals, won the Rising Star of the Year award at the 2012 Healthcare Science Awards for the best entry in the healthcare science essay competition for trainees.

Katharine was presented her prize by the Rt Hon Andrew Lansley CBE, Secretary of State for Health and Professor Sue Hill OBE, Chief Scientific Officer at the Department of Health.

Trainees were asked to submit a 1500 word essay addressing the question: ‘How could healthcare science education and training be further enhanced to deliver quality patient outcomes?’

The runners up were Charlotte Hill, of the Royal Liverpool Hospital and Georgios Ntentas, of Kings College Hospital London. They received certificates from the Chief Scientific Officer and the Secretary of State for Health.
