Training opportunity: HEE education and leadership course for healthcare scientists

The Health Education England Leadership Academy, in conjunction with the Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS), will be holding a bespoke and fully-funded four-day training course specifically for healthcare scientists. The ‘Practical Skills for Professional Education and Leadership in Healthcare Science’ (PSEL) course will be delivered in four cities in the coming two months and is aimed at healthcare scientists who will be responsible for the education, leadership and development of the healthcare science workforce of the future.

Participants will reflect and build on their own professional development in numerous aspects of educational leadership including the principles of inspiring work-based learning and empowering colleagues to improve their own skills and knowledge. The PSEL course will be run by staff who are experienced in personal development and education within the healthcare sphere. There will also be the opportunity to participate in four subsequent half-day ‘action learning sets’ (ALS).

This invaluable opportunity is only open to 16 participants in each city but the course fee, accommodation and lunches will be covered; participants will need to meet their own travel costs. Interested trainees will need to be approved by their line manager and complete an application form which can be found on the AHCS website; NHS England and the AHCS will review the applications and allocate places. Courses will take place on the following dates:

• 26th, 27th February and 20th, 21st March in Nottingham
• 1st, 2nd March and 18th, 19th April in Cambridge
• 8th, 9th March and 27th, 28th March in London
• 12th, 13th April and 25th, 26th April in Durham
