4.1 The role of the School in work-based assessments

  • These standards set out the processes and the roles and responsibilities for all parties involved in work-based assessments for School programmes.
  • The School expects these standards to be applied to all work-based assessments completed.
  • The standards ensure that the work-based assessments required for School programmes:
    • are valid and reliable
    • are conducted consistently and fairly
    • set an expectation for the level of practice trainees must demonstrate to successfully complete the programme
    • meet the relevant Professional, Statutory and Regulatory body (PSRB) standards.
  • The School will provide support and guidance on the standards to all parties involved in work-based assessments.
  • The School expects that the standards will form a clear basis for professional behaviours and for discussion about how the standards should be applied in the workplace. The School will not arbitrate the application of the standards.
  • The School will quality assure the application of the standards via the e-portfolio.
