Creating a new NHS England

Health Education England (HEE) will be coming together with NHS England (NHSE) to create a new organisation on 1 April 2023. This means that the new NHS England will take responsibility for HEE’s current activities. This includes planning, recruiting, educating and training the health workforce and ensuring that the healthcare workforce has the people, skills, values and behaviours to deliver excellent healthcare and health improvement to patients and the public.

This is a challenging time for people affected by this change. HEE and the new NHSE are supporting colleagues across the organisations while at the same time listening to feedback from partners, trainers and trainees as this new organisation is designed.

Managing your trainees

We have created a section on our website providing answers  about issues ranging from study leave to funding.

This month’s featured FAQ is:

Q – Can a trainee transfer to a new location within the same specialism?

A – The regional education and training offices fund each training post within their area. If a trainee needs to move within the region covered and the Trust is able to accommodate them, the funding would have to be transferred by the regional office to the new post. However, a transfer outside of the regional education and training office area is more difficult.
