What are your responsibilities as a trainee?

You are responsible for working with your training officer to monitor your progress. You need to demonstrate that you are developing as a reflective practitioner by using the feedback you receive to improve your practice.

Your responsibilities are to:

  • Attend the training from the School on the e-portfolio (or watch the recording).
  • Keep up-to-date with assessments and evidence in the e-portfolio.
  • Keep your training officer informed of any issues which could affect your progress, including if you are struggling with how the training is being delivered.
  • Know your plan for training and keep track of your own progress, regularly identify gaps and action plan to close the gaps.
  • Use the feedback you receive to improve your practice. Discuss the feedback you receive openly with your training officer.
  • Regularly reflect upon your experiences.
  • Be prepared for one-to-one reviews with your training officer. These should be two-way, collaborative learning opportunities.
  • Set yourself meaningful targets to aid planning and your progression through the programme.
  • Learn from the feedback you receive from a range of sources to develop your practice.
  • Understand the review of progression process and the targets you must have achieved by the end of years 1 and 2.
