Mandy Scott, Learning and Development Manager for the Healthcare Science workforce at Sheffield Teaching Hospital, was recently awarded ‘highly commended’ as an Apprentice Champion in Yorkshire and the Humber, at theĀ National Apprenticeship Awards.

Mandy started her work with apprenticeships in 2013 when she co-ordinated a 5 year Healthcare Science Apprentice pilot scheme across Yorkshire and the Humber. The pilot scheme successfully recruited over 100 apprentices, all of whom have either been employed or progressed onto higher training programmes with NHS related roles.

In 2017 she Chaired a Yorkshire and the Humber Apprentice Implementation Group, encouraging healthcare science service leads to access and utilise the new apprentice standards and also liaising with education providers and employers to secure delivery of the level 6 and level 2 healthcare science apprentice education within the region. This has resulted in there now being 39 level 6 degree apprentices and 21 level 2 apprentices, all enrolled in the region for healthcare science.
