It is with real sadness that we have learned at the National School of the death of Dr Sally Pollard (nee Chappell). Sally worked tirelessly to set up and manage the MSc Clinical Science course at the University of Nottingham which the early cohorts of Genetics STP trainees took as the academic arm of their training programme.
Sally is remembered by her colleagues and by staff at the National School as a committed and caring teacher, always willing to do the very best for her students. Sally made major contributions to both teaching and research in the School of Life Sciences at Nottingham and also had a wide range of teaching and research collaborations within and outside the University.
Sally’s husband Tim Pollard has set up ‘Sally Pollard ‘s Thank You Fund’ to raise funds for the organisations who helped Sally in her last months with care, equipment and treatment. Funds raised will be donated in Sally’s name to:
Macmillan Cancer Support, the Red Cross, Nottingham City Hospital’s Hayward House Specialist Palliative Care Unit, Nottingham and Treetops Hospices and Maggie’s Nottingham.
