Message from your Training Programme Director, Jane Lynch
Welcome to the October ETP Monthly Memo. As we start a new year on the programme, I would particularly like to welcome the 2023 cohort of trainees and training officers and I wish you every success on the programme.
For those of our trainees that are starting the second year, I would like to encourage you to complete the NETS survey to give us feedback about your experience so far. I am pleased to say that, following feedback from last year, the NETS team have included the ETP as an option for you to pick as your programme. All responses to the survey are confidential.

Information for trainees
National Education and Training Survey (NETS)
The NETS is the only national survey open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students and trainees undertaking a practice placement or training post in healthcare as part of their education and training programme.
The survey gathers opinions from students and trainees about their time working and training in practice placements and training posts, asking them to provide feedback on what worked well and what they think could be improved.
Every survey response, across every profession and location, counts and helps to improve the experience of current and future students and trainees.
The NETS takes 10 minutes to complete and closes on 28 November.

- Accreditation with the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) – theory and practical examinations
If you have concerns about meeting the requirements of the programme in the timeframe allowed come and talk to the School. We will be happy to advise you. You can email us at england.nshcs@nhs.net

ETP training standards and expectations
The training standards and expectations for the role of ETP work-based trainer are now available.
Taking on the trainer role is a significant responsibility and commitment. To support you and your departmental colleagues to navigate these responsibilities we have developed this set of training standards which clearly articulate what is expected of you.
There are 5 training standards and for each one there is a suite of training materials available on the NHS Learning Hub which we encourage you to access.
