General overview of when trainees are expected to attend lectures, either on campus or online.

This timetable information is provisional and subject to change. Trainees are advised not to book travel or accommodation until dates are confirmed by the university once a trainee has enrolled on the programme.

Audiology, Neurophysiology, Ophthalmic Vision indicative block dates

Year 1

  • September/October: online – 5 days (14 to 18 September 2026); on campus – 5 days (21 to 25 September 2026); online – 5 days (28 September to 2 October 2026)
  • November: online (16 to 20 November 2026)
  • January: on campus/online (11 to 15 January 2027)
  • March: on campus/online (1 to 5 March 2027)
  • May: online (10 May 2027); on campus – 2 days (11 to 12 May 2027)

During Year 1 the ‘Evidence Based Practice’ module has online webinars between 5 to 6:30 during Term 1 (5 dates from Jan to April). These sessions are recorded but live attendance is recommended. These dates will be shared with students.

Year 2

  • September/October: online (16 September 2026); 1 week – usually last week of September/beginning of October
  • Some additional Term 1 online dates per specialism – will be communicated directly with trainees
  • January: 1 week – usually 2nd week of January
  • Some additional January online dates per specialism – will be communicated directly with trainees
  • March: 1 week – usually 1st week of March
  • May: 3 days (10-12 May 2027)

Year 3

  • October: 1 week – usually 2nd week of October
  • Some additional November online dates per specialism – will be communicated directly with trainees
  • January: 1 week – usually 3rd week of January
  • Some additional January/February online dates per specialism – will be communicated directly with trainees
  • March: 1 week – usually 2nd week of March
  • May: poster day – usually mid-May

Online and on campus modes will not be on the same day. Trainees will be provided with a timetable.

  • Year 1: September to November – 8 weeks
  • Year 2: February to March – 6 weeks

Physiological Sciences indicative block dates

  • Year 1: October/November – 6 week teaching block
    • Gastrointestinal science – teaching dates are the same, but teaching may be online, the university will confirm.
  • Year 2: September – 2 week teaching block
    • Gastrointestinal science – teaching dates are the same, but teaching may be online, the university will confirm.
  • Year 3: September/October – 2 week teaching block
    • Gastrointestinal science, teaching will be at Newcastle or Salford, this will be confirm by the University.

Physical Sciences indicative block dates

  • Year 1: October/November – 6 week teaching block

All specialties

  • Year 1 will return in March for 2 weeks of teaching
  • Year 2 will return in February for 1 week of teaching

Students will have in-person exams in January and May which they will have to attend. Exam dates for January will be released in December and exam dates for May will be released in March.
