There are a number of roles for speciality experts that are required to deliver the STP Final Year Assessment.

The aim of the STP Final Year Assessment is to ensure that trainees are able to practise safely, uphold professional standards and are ready to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical Scientist. Assessor

Assessors are responsible for making an independent judgment against a defined marking criterion, of a trainee’s performance in the STP Final Year Assessment. Assessors fulfil an essential role in the delivery of the assessment.

The School holds a bank of Assessors who meet the criteria to fulfil the role for the STP Final Year Assessment. Assessors on the bank will be approached to indicate their availability prior to each sitting of the STP Final Year Assessment. Click this link to view dates for the final year assessment.

We recruit Assessors to the STP Final Year Assessment Assessor Bank annually. You can express interest in becoming an assessor at any point and we’ll be in touch when the next recruitment cycle begins.

Assessment Content Writer

The purpose of the role is to contribute scientific expertise to the development of assessment content for the STP Final Year Assessment to enable robust and valid assessment of the specialty STP.

Assessment Content Writers are engaged for each cycle of assessment content development, which is completed periodically. When available, this role will be advertised by the School.

Lead roles

There are 2 lead roles. The purpose of the roles is to provide scientific leadership to the STP Final Year Assessment to ensure the assessment is valid, reliable and fit for purpose. The roles will be offered for a period of 3 years in the first instance and may be extended for a further 3 years.

We recruit to these roles as required. When available, roles will be advertised by the School.

Lead Assessment Content Editor

Lead Assessment Content Editors will be responsible for developing and maintaining a bank of content required for the STP Final Year Assessment.

Lead Assessor

Lead Assessors will be responsible for facilitating and resourcing each specialty sitting of the STP Final Year Assessment. Click this link to view dates for the final year assessment.
