ETP training officer survey
NHS England has generously funded 2 major initiatives to support training officers and their departments.
These are:
- funding supplied to each individual department of 0.1 WTE Band 8a per trainee to support the training officer to have the time to perform the role
- the recruitment of Regional training leads
In order to assess the impact of these initiatives and to inform our case for ongoing funding, we would like to collect your views on their impact. We have put together a survey. This should take no longer than 10 mins to complete. It is really important that we collect views from as many people involved in training as possible so please complete this as soon as possible and share with any colleagues we may have missed that have been involved in training the ETP.
If you’ve not received the survey link please email us at england.nshcs@nhs.net. The survey closes on Friday 15th December 2023.
ETP training standards and expectations
The School’s training standards and expectations for the role of ETP work-based trainer are now available.
Taking on the trainer role is a significant responsibility and commitment. To support you and your departmental colleagues to navigate these responsibilities we have developed this set of training standards which clearly articulate what is expected of you.
There are 5 training standards and for each one there is a suite of training materials available on the NHS Learning Hub which we encourage you to access.

Learning resources on the NHS Learning Hub
To support you to develop the knowledge and skills associated with the School’s training standards, we are developing a suite of short training resources within the NHS Learning Hub. These are not mandatory and are meant to support you in your own professional development as a trainer, irrespective of the programme.
To access the NHS Learning Hub you will need to have an account with the service. The details on how to do this can be found within the training standards pages on our website, linked to below.
The following modules are already available on the NHS Learning Hub. Please click on the links to access them:
- Supporting your trainee with reflective practice
