The recruitment process including advertising, applications, selection and interviews will be conducted by the employing organisation and overseen by the School.

The employer

The employer will carry out the following:

  • Advertise and carry out local recruitment and selection processes aligned with the ETP person specification. To confirm with the NSHCS that this has been completed along with confirmation of the applicant and relevant documentation by no later than the 28 June 2024.
  • Timely delivery of recruitment and pre-employment checks to ensure the programme start date can be met.
  • All panel members will be required to be up to date with mandatory training on equality, diversity and inclusion. We recommend panel members complete the NSHCS ‘Conscious Inclusion Training‘.
  • To inform the NSHCS of any delays and issues that may cause delays.
  • Employers should confirm to the NSHCS that they have conducted a local interview and that in their professional view, the applicant meets the person specification and admissions requirements. At this point the following will need to be provided:
    • a completed ETP scoresheet
    • copies of documents and qualifications needed to meet the entry requirements
    • where relevant, confirmation of voluntary registration number will also be required
  • Where documents are outstanding, the employer will need to ensure that these are chased and provided no later than the 28 June 2024.. Also, that any anticipated qualifications are achieved before the programme start date.
  • It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that the admissions requirements and pre-employment checks, including right to work and study checks, are undertaken prior to the commencement date.

The School

The School will carry out the following:

  • Provide guidance on the recruitment and selection process, including the following documents:
    • sample job advertisement
    • job description
    • person specification
  • Facilitate recruitment to posts, including changes to commissions and inform necessary stakeholders of any changes.
  • Organise HEI panel meetings where required for review if qualifications are accepted.
  • Collate and provide final cohort information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide a ‘training the trainer’ opportunity for all named Training Officers to attend. Details will follow upon confirmation of posts and contact information.

The Higher Education Institution (HEI)

The HEI will carry out the following:

  • Attend panel meetings to review any applicants’ qualifications and supporting information.
  • Facilitate interviews with applicants if required and communicate the outcome with the NSHCS.

The Training Programme Director (TPD)

The TPD will carry out the following:

  • Provide guidance on the Echocardiography Training Programme.
  • Liaise with the NSHCS Recruitment Team on any eligibility queries.
  • Respond to complaints or appeals that are outside the standard process.
