Your responsibilities
As a trainee on the STP, it is your responsibility to ensure you are prepared for the STP Final Year Assessment. Here you can find out what you can expect on the day of your assessment and how you can prepare.
What to expect on the day
You will be provided with a date and time for your assessment by the School. At the time identified by the School, you should log in to the Qpercom platform, using the username and password you have set up, at: https://mdrs.qpercom.com/
Once you’ve logged in, you will be placed in a virtual waiting room by yourself. While you are in the waiting room, an administrator will visit you to brief you and complete a number of pre-assessment checks. You will need to confirm your identity by showing photographic ID and moving the camera to show the entire room to confirm you are alone. You can have one sheet of blank paper and a pen or pencil with you to make notes during the assessment. You will need to show the paper to the administrator to confirm it is blank. The administrator will also remind you what to expect from the assessment and what to do if you have any problems. If you have a reasonable adjustment in place, the administrator will also confirm this with you.
Once your pre-assessment checks have been completed, you must not logout. You must remain visible on the screen. You must not turn your camera off or step away from the screen at any time during the assessment. Your activity is monitored during the assessment by a circuit administrator, and you may be observed or recorded during the assessment.
This video walks you through what the experience of the Qpercom assessment platform will be like for you as a trainee as you complete your pre-assessment checks and move between pre-reading and stations.
Preparing for the day
There are a number of things you can do to make sure you are fully prepared for your assessment.
Firstly, as the assessment is part of your programme, make sure you are presenting yourself in a professional manner. You may want to consider how you dress for the assessment, the environment you are in and your attitude to the assessment.
Before the assessment, check your equipment is working and you have contingencies in place such as a charger plugged in or a backup device on hand. Make sure your camera and microphone are working, as well as any additional devices you intend to use such as headphones. You will need your Qpercom username and password which you will have created several weeks before the assessment. Before you log in to Qpercom, remember to close all other applications on your device. If you are logging in from a new location or with a new device, you will need to repeat the Qpercom diagnostic test link when you log in. Make sure you have enough time to complete this.
You need to be alone to sit the assessment. Make sure you won’t be disturbed or overheard where you are. The space around you needs to be clear and you must not have any notes, books or other materials with you. You may have one sheet of blank paper and a pen or pencil with you to make notes during the assessment. Your notes must remain confidential and be destroyed immediately after the assessment. You may also wish to have a drink of water with you.
Where to get help the day of the assessment
It is your responsibility to ensure you are prepared for the STP Final Year Assessment. If you have completed all of the steps outlined within this guidance, we don’t anticipate you will experience any issues. As a contingency, we will ask you for a phone number where you can be reached on the day of the assessment. We do, however, know that sometimes there can be issues which are outside your control. We’ll do our best to support you with these.
We also suggest that you familiarise yourself with the STP Final Year Assessment regulations.
Where to get help when you are logged in to Qpercom
Once you are logged in to Qpercom, if you experience issues with the platform, you can raise them with the Circuit Manager by clicking on the orange ‘Help’ button on screen. The role of the Circuit Manager is to maintain an overview of the assessment circuit and keep everything running smoothly. They may already be aware of your issue and will do their best to support you. If you are logged out of Qpercom for any reason, log back in as soon as you are able.
Any issues that occur during your circuit will be logged. We’ll review whether the issue has had a significant impact on your assessment and whether this should be considered in determining the outcome of your assessment and/or future opportunities to sit the assessment.
Where to get help if you can’t log in to Qpercom
On the day of the assessment, you should let the School know as soon as you are aware, if you are experiencing significant issues outside your control which will prevent you from logging in to Qpercom and/or attending the assessment. You will be provided with a phone number to use on the day of the assessment. The phone number should only be used if you are experiencing significant issues outside your control on the day of the assessment. Please bear in mind, if you are calling this number for another reason, you may be preventing someone who is trying to sit the assessment from getting the support they need.
If you are unable to sit the assessment at your assigned time, you may be given another time to sit the assessment within the assessment window. If this happens, you will still be expected to be available to attend your assessment. We strongly recommend you do not book any events which cannot be changed within the assessment sitting window.
