Does the NSHCS provide a Health and Care visa to applicants who require a visa?

No. Should you be successful and receive an offer, the employer will be responsible for sponsorship of a Health and Care visa providing you meet eligibility. Visit the Home Office website for further details on the Points Based System.

What level of English language competency is required?

It is essential that you have the communication skills to enable you to perform the role effectively. You must also be able to demonstrate and provide evidence that you can achieve the standards set for clinical scientists by the Health and Care Professions Council. Please refer to the STP entry requirements and HCPC website for further information.

I am from outside of the UK; do I have the right to work in the UK?

Where possible, you must establish your right to work and study in the UK before applying. Please refer to the national guidance from NHS England and the UK Visas and Immigration Service to check your eligibility. If you require a Tier 2 visa to work and train in the UK please visit the Home Office website for the latest guidance. It is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct visa in place to work and study in the UK for the duration of the three year programme, by the start date of the STP.

As a non UK applicant, what do I need to do?

If you hold an international qualification you will need to provide a UK ENIC Statement of Comparability. This statement should be obtained prior to the application opening date and will need to be uploaded to your Oriel application.

For undergraduate qualifications to meet the entry requirements the UK ENIC Statement of Comparability must confirm that the comparable UK qualification is at least ‘Bachelor Science (Honours) degree’. If the statement details that the qualification(s) is comparable to a UK ‘Bachelor (Ordinary) degree’ or ‘Bachelor Degree’, then the qualification is not the level required.

You will also need to ensure that the equivalent grade is added to the Oriel application form.

If I don't have my UK ENIC Statement of Comparability by the application closing date, can I upload it to my application after closing date?

You will not be able to upload the UK ENIC Statament of Comparability after you have submitted your application. You will need to email this to england.hcsapplicants@nhs.net as soon as possible and prior to the deadline which will be provided to you.

Are international applicants eligible to apply for STP?

Yes, we welcome all applications which meet the entry criteria.

Does the NSHCS help with relocation expenses?

No, we do not provide any financial assistance for relocation.

Is it necessary to change visa status if already in the UK with dependant visa after successful application?

If you have the right to work and study on your current immigration status (this does not apply to those on graduate visas) then you do not need to change. You must ensure you have the continued right to work and study thoughout your employment on the STP. If you hold a Tier 2 and are offered a post by a new employer, then you will need to apply for a new tier 2 visa as these are not transferable between employers.

Do I need to submit an official letter from my university with my predicted degree results?

No documentation is required to be submitted for all applicants with predicted grades.

Do I need to apply for an ATAS certificate?

Yes, if applicable and you are successfully appointed then you will need to apply for this as soon as you receive confirmation from the HEI.

Can I submit any other documents to show my degree comparability, instead of a UK ENIC?

No, the NSHCS will accept a UK ENIC Statement of Comparability only. No other certification will be accepted. Applicants must ensure they are aware of the cost and timescales involved in obtaining this. For further information, please see the recruitment guidance for non-UK applicants and the UK ENIC website.
