Your responsibilities
It is your responsibility to ensure you are fully prepared to re–sit the STP Final Year Assessment. Here you can find out important information about your re–sit and how to prepare.
What to expect from a re-sit
You have a total of three opportunities to sit the STP Final Year Assessment; i.e. one first sit and two re–sit opportunities. The format of re–sit opportunities follows the current format of the STP FYA. A resit is a full sitting of the FYA. There are no options for a reduced or partial re–sit of the assessment.
You will be automatically be entered into the next sitting of the assessment. View future dates of the STP FYA.
There is no training contract extension on the basis of STP FYA failure. A fail outcome at the STP Final Year Assessment is not considered an exceptional extenuating circumstance and the programme will not be extended solely for this reason. Your completion deadline for your e-portfolio remains unchanged.
More information about the regulations surrounding re–sits can be found in the STP FYA Regulations.
Preparing to re-sit
There are a number of things you can do to make sure you are fully prepared for your re–sit.
Firstly, review the information about preparing to sit the assessment. For example, you may wish to revisit our presentation about preparing to respond to scenarios. All of this advice also applies to your re–sit.
In addition, with your training officer where possible, you may wish to reflect on your previous experience of the STP FYA.
You may wish to:
- Review feedback provided by assessors
- Reflect on what you found difficult in your previous attempt at the assessment
- Make a plan to address any areas you identify you struggled with
