e-Learning for Healthcare programmes

The e-Learning for Healthcare website has a collection of links to web based educational resources and other e-learning platforms, that you may find useful to support your training. Please bear in mind that this list is not exhaustive and not all of the materials have been created specifically for the healthcare science training programmes.



The e-Audiology curriculum has three modules of e-learning designed to support assistant and associate audiologists, audiologists, GPs, GP practice staff, other healthcare professionals and volunteers across the NHS. Each module contains several e-learning sessions, with each session taking approximately 20 minutes to complete. There are currently three modules, numbered 1, 3 and 4.

ICU Echo Ultrasound

The ICE-BLU project covers the theoretical knowledge required undertake hands-on training in focused echo and lung ultrasound in intensive care. It is designed for all clinicians interested in assessment of critically ill patients, including those in anaesthesia, intensive care, emergency and acute medicine. It introduces the physics of ultrasound, anatomy and basic views, left and right ventricular function, life-threatening pathologies, basic lung ultrasound and some of the limitations and pitfalls that may be encountered.

The DICE sessions go beyond the FICE curriculum, to explain Doppler theory and demonstrate the value of spectral and colour flow Doppler imaging in clinical practice.



Eye-Site’s content is mapped to the Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ curriculum for postgraduate training in Ophthalmology. Current e-learning sessions include Clinical Assessment, Refraction (testing for spectacles and other vision aids), Laser (including safety aspects), Ophthalmic Public Health, and Microsurgery skills (including basic phacoemulsification). The online materials supporting Microsurgery skills have allowed the Royal College of Ophthalmologists to transform their national course, enabling them to maximise practical training time during live courses.
